CNN Reports On President's Poll Numbers

Bill Schneider of CNN presented a short piece on President Bush's falling poll numbers today. It aired on CNN Headline News and on CNN's main cable channel, more than once.

Why was this news so widely reported?

Poll numbers count because they might be harbingers of the next Congressional election.

As far as the President is concerned, however, poll numbers may not matter much. He seems much more of a man of principle than polls.
