The NASA Post-MMT press conference, normally a staid forum for announcements and audiovisual presentations, featured this morning a hands-on demonstration of various techniques a member of the Discovery crew will use to repair the Shuttle's thermal protection system on the mission's third spacewalk.
Eliciting a laugh from the audience as he put on protective glasses, a shirt-sleeved official used his gloved hand, forceps, and a hacksaw to show how the astronaut would remove or shorten a gap filler stuck to heat protection tiles clamped to a demonstration board.
The four representatives of the team also took questions and answers from the press.
